Mike Maurer, I would think you must be thrilled at the facts that are now showing that more dealers where laid off, lost their jobs and are collecting unemployment (read: our tax dollars) but - first and foremost, as they collect the benefits they can breath easier. I guess you accomplished what you set out to do, stop the evil smokers and get that non-smoking staff on the unemployment line. I congratulate you! Job well done. PA/NY and many other states join me in thanking you, they got the tax dollars and jobs you lost :)

New electronic cigarettes are answer to smoking bans. I like to gamble, but I have asthma, so I stayed out of casinos, went to online casinos, and then this was banned, so I now can see the opportunity to get back into casinos where smoking bans are now happening.

Don't get me wrong, I use to smoke, and enjoyed it, but like many things in life, I got hit with allergies which turned into asthma several years later. I tried this new electronic cigarette and it did not bother my asthma, so I think this is the breakthrough for all smokers.

I was impressed with taste of tobacco with no carcinogens, and best of all, no second hand smoke or stink of tobacco, so this to me is the perfect solution to smoking bans. In fact, I can go into airplane toilet and smoke away without concern because it is water vapor, not tobacco ignition smoke particals which won't set off alarms. I even blew directly into smoke detector with no concern, so talk about breakthroughs in technology, this is it.

Everyone concerned with smoking bans should try this new technology, it will blow you away. lol Now a healthy smoking alternative which delivers whatever level of nicotine your body needs, and when you dial it down slowly, you can kick the nicotine addiction, and then smoke when and where you want, not more habit, just the free choice to smoke away not disturbing anyone elses space. Perfect answer in my opinion.

You are so right. Smokers have compromised where we smoke due to the manner we were taught. Maybe it was not rigth to smoke in restaraunts. Smokers have been considerate in this. Maybe it was not right to smoke in grocery store, department stores, etc. Smokers have given to this. But outside.....in the cold, rain, amd wind. That is more than considerate. Come on people, smokers have compromised enough. I would never offend anyone by smoking where someone would be offended, but give smokers a place. Give me some freedom in this "free county".

I was taught if you have nothing nice to say, don't talk at all. I would never say someone was fat and we should impletment a fat tax to save lives!!! Obesity is the number one cause of death today and is increasing. Thank God for Weight Watchers so fat people can go out to eat!

I have manners, just give me a place to use them.....

Hello,

As one of the anti-smoking "activists" I must take this opportunity to thank you for the good work you have been doing keeping this in the news and on the air.

Please know that any discourse that is occurring now is 98% in favor of passage of the ordinance. So thanks again for keeping this out there.

Please let us know if we can ever help you with a future project.

More than 50 studies have concluded that 2nd-hand smoke kills. There have been a couple of groups that refute the scientific evidence but 'no' scientific evidence of their own to back their position.

The number of lung cancer cases among non-smoking casino dealers is growing along with the number of non-smoking dealers who cannot obtain affordable life insurance because their xrays show they have a 2 pack per day habit when they've never smoked a cigarette.

Are the majority of smokers that frequent the casinos so addicted as to ignore irrefutable evidence simply to justify putting others' at risk? Most smokers, outside of the casino environment, realize the dangers and are compassionate enough to at least make an attempt at protecting others from 'their' admitted addiction - especially when around children.

Why do so many smokers frequenting the casinos blatantly ignore the facts and make the lives of the casino workers and other non-smoking patrons a living hell? Are their lives somehow less valuable than those of other environments? And, how about the gutless idiots that spew their smoke into dealers' faces when they're losing... why don't they realize that dealers make their living from TIPS - not from them losing??

If there has to be smoking in the casino, isolated smoking rooms seem to be the fairest solution for all. I have a portion of my family that I love dearly but have to limit visits because their smoking makes us physically ill - they understand the dilemma but admit their addiction controls them. Most dealers in the smoking areas of the casinos are non-smokers. A little compassion is deeply appreciated... especially by their children and spouses.

Please search your own conscience and heart before sending a scathing reply.
